INTRODUCTION
For a healthy environment
We are all concerned about the air we breathe, the water we use and the food we eat. Pollution from industry, traffic and the risks of industrial food production creates costs, which we as citizens have to bear. We pay for them not only in the form of social payments, but sometimes also with our health.
The Greens/EFA fight to preserve nature, protect biodiversity and promote animal welfare. For example, our policies on the reform of European Fisheries Policy and of the Common Agricultural Policy were shaped by our aim to achieve sustainable food production and to reconnect consumers with farmers and fishermen. Everybody should have the opportunity to choose healthy food. We consistently struggle for consumer rights and transparency in the food supply chain.
And we invite all those who produce and consume food to join us in pushing for a GMO-free Europe.
